Dailymotion and Eye On Films have partnered once again to offer 12 indie films for free – one indie per month over the course of a year. On the 1st Monday of each month from 6pm to midnight, Dailymotion will stream a free movie preview before it’s offered for purchase through our Video on Demand (“VOD”) program.

This month’s indie film is Pavee Lackeen, which tells the story of Winnie, a ten year old Irish Traveller girl, who lives with her mother and siblings in a dilapidated trailer on the side of the road in Dublin. It’s an intimate portrait of a resilient and spirited young girl and her proud, dignified family struggling day by day against bureaucracy, poverty and prejudice.

Its director and co-writer, Perry Ogden, won an IFTA Award in the category of Breakthrough Talent. Winnie Maughn was nominated for Best Actress in a Feature Film in the same awards. It also won the Best Feature Film Award at the Galway Film Fleadh, the Rainer Werner Fassbinder Prize / The Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Mannheim Film Festival, and played at the Venice Film Festival, Leeds Film Festival, London Film Festival, 35th New Directors New Films Festival, and BuenosAires International Festival of Independent Film among others.

Toronto Festival Daily called it, “honest, beautiful, and, above all else, alive” while The Irish Independent added, “Ogden has the unblinking eye of a cinema sniper and the soul of an angry poet”.
