Music Videos of the Week: Toilet Humor, Gun Monkeys, Purdy Pirate
Last week’s top music videos featured tracks from Eclectic Method, Bang La Decks, Moustache Prawn, Opera Chaotique, Destructo, Downside, and Hollywood Luck. This week we’ve got masterful short movies for tunes from Hello Bye Bye, LIFEGUARD+ (directed by Joaquin Phoenix), Ice Cream (the band), Holly and The Wolf, Twista, One4All, KMAC aka Kristen McNamara, Pissed Jeans and Pig Destroyer. Check ‘em out and leave suggestions in the comments section at the bottom.
“Let’s Live Happy Waiting for Our Dying Day” by Hello Bye Bye
I’d like to think this is what inspired those new Taco Bell commercials. What does ‘Live Mas’ even mean? Oh, it means ‘Fart More’. Cool.
“Tear You Apart” by LIFEGUARD+ via CM Beer
The music video for “Tear You Apart” was directed by Joaquin Phoenix and was filmed in a middle school in Hollywood. The band’s headquarters were in the ballet studio of the school. I really do think I’m gonna be chopped up by a hot girl one day. No matter how many times I’ve seen stuff like this, I just know I’m gonna get seduced to death.
“Blessings” by Ice Cream, directed by Xander Robin
I’d like to see a steel cage match between this goat head guy and the bunny from Donnie Darko. I’d definitely steal someone’s PPV to watch that.
“Young Hearts” by Holly and The Wolf
I’m the worst with names. If you see me at bar, just assume that I will not remember your name after one intro. Grab my face and yell your name six times directly into my face.
“Old School” by Twista
Twista once threatened Busta Rhymes’ status as the fastest rapper in the game. He’s back this time with something that starts off a little slower and harder and more Halloween-ish. That chain is ridiculous, btw. I’d get jumped in a heartbeat if I rocked that.
“Journeyman” by One4All via Blastro Networks
Traveling businessmen and women are a different breed. I like to travel, but being a road warrior has to take its toll on you at some point. Like, I can see myself getting into some really crazy stuff.
“Pirate” by KMAC via Blastro Networks
The northern California native who describes herself as, “a countryfied beach hippie at heart” was a top 3 finalist on CBS’s Star Search in 2003, a top 6 finalist on USA’s Nashville Star in 2006 and Top 15 on FOX’s American Idol Season 8 in 2009. She also used to be homeless. Now she’s a pirate. Yet, she smells amazing. Don’t ask how I know that.
“Bathroom Laughter” by Pissed Jeans via Blastro Networks
I’ve never really been into infomercials, but I am a fan of poking fun at infomercials.
“The Diplomat” by Pig Destroyer via Blastro Networks
This tribute to 2001: A Space Odyssey is also biting commentary on gun control. The message here is never give guns to monkeys. Or men dressed as monkeys. Or are these apes? Do apes get offended by being called “monkeys”?
