Saturday Morning Cartoons: Paperman, Polar Bear, Baby Love
I don’t know about you, but there wasn’t a better feeling in the world than waking up early on Saturday morning to watch cartoons. Of course, those days are long gone thanks to booze, but I thought this new weekly feature would help bring out the kid in us again while also allowing us to sleep in. Can’t stress enough how much I love sleep. I know it’s the cousin of death, and I fear death like crazy, but families are weird and not everyone gets along. Anyway, why wait til Sunday night for FOX’s Animation Domination? Here are our top selections from Dailymotion’s Animation Channel. Enjoy!
Paperman via Spi0n
There was an indie film of the same name starring Ryan Reynolds as a superhero. No, not Green Lantern - it was called, Paper Man. This is a black-and-white animated short film produced by Disney that blends traditional animation and computer animation. It received a nomination for Best Animated Short Film at this year’s Oscars. As much as I enjoy cartoons like this, this kinda crap just don’t happen IRL. Although, I’m not skinny or tall, so that might be part of the problem.
Paper War via Spi0n
What’s with all the paper references? Well, other than it being a lost medium that we’re paying respect to, it possesses a world of possibilites. And it feels good on the fingers. Something we can’t really say for Microsoft Word documents. Here, two dudes fight over a girl who will more than likely cheat on the ‘winner’ with the ‘loser’.
The Beaufort Diaries via Alex Petrowsky
This series follows a polar bear’s rocket rise to stardom, his inevitable crash and burn, his enduring, inspiring friendship with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, his dust-up with Scientology, and his painful journey to redemption and bear-awareness.
David Duchovny voices the furry lead from T Cooper’s graphic novel “The Beaufort Diaries” while Alex Petrowsky provides the art and direction.
I Love You Baby via Phil Matarese
You already know that we’re big fans of Phil’s Animals series. Now, we get a peek into the placenta-covered world of a baby with a lot on its mind.

Next, we go from a baby to kids. Bill Cosby had it right, they do say the darndest things. I personally love those new AT&T commercials with the dude in the suit talking to the kids. If my kid isn’t that funny, we’re gonna have problems. If my kid is funny, it might be even worse, because I’ll let him/her get away with anything. I should probably get a vasectomy.
