Go ‘Back to the Camera’ With This Epic Supercut
It’s a classic shot used in cinema, but one that’s often overlooked. Spike Lee’s dolly shot may get more buzz, Martin Scorsese’s one-shot in Goodfellas is the stuff of legend and cinephiles rave about a variety of techniques directors like the Wachowski Brothers (now Brother-Sister) or Ang Lee have brought to mainstream films. Still, despite all the advances in filming and framing, the simple shot from behind evokes a range of emotion that’s unparalleled.
It’s that moment when the audience melts into the movie and you feel like you’re watching an intimate act in motion.
Here, in the above video titled “The View,” Zach Prewitt complies clips from more than 80 movies’ most memorable scenes — from Walk The Line, Star Wars, and The Life of Pi, among others — that are truly remarkable.
Take a peak over their shoulder.
