As we all know, holiday shopping is a total pain in the ass, especially if you’re in a relationship. You buy her a sparkly bracelet and she huffs because it looks cheap. You buy her an expensive coat and you find out it doesn’t have enough winter lining. Honestly, these times are tough if not impossible. I feel you, man.

Take it from me—a city gal in her late 20s—I know we’re not always easy.

So, to make your life a bit easier, here are five gift options that any classy, somewhat reasonable woman would appreciate. And if she doesn’t, well then I’m sorry, she sucks. Because these gifts are Grade A rad and I’d be stoked for any guy to be smart enough to pick one of them up for me. (Bueller?)

1. Statement bags

I know the men out there are thinking ‘how in the hell could I pick out a purse she’d like?’ Well, it’s easy. Statement bags don’t necessarily have to match your lady’s day-to-day style. Hell, you could give her a sparkly panda head on a chain and I’m sure if she’s got a sense of humor, she’d rock that b like it was a rock solid diamond. That’s why they’re called “statement bags”. They’re not meant to be normal. They’re meant to be fun. A statement.

2. Beauty products

Alright, here we go again. You’re saying there is no way you could pick out beauty products for your girl. But, yes, yes you can. Of course, there are certain items that will get you a slap across the face (read: anti-aging lotion and wrinkle-diminishing cream), but that’s not what I’m recommending. So, what’s safe? I’d stick with a mixed palette of colors and products. Sephora and Bloomingdale’s curate packages like this out the wazoo. So, no excuse, this is an easy choice.

3. Everyday items

What’s that? Something we actually needed but we didn’t realize we needed until your genius self thoughtfully picked it out for us. How wonderful! Now, this covers a vast cornucopia of products, but trust me, most of these are seriously treasured by us ladies. If she’s a writer, consider notebooks from Moleskin or a local design shop in your town. (Bonus: you could have a leather one engraved.) If she’s a tech freak, think about a nice iPhone cover. Every fashion designer on Earth has a line these days. So… peek at the labels in her closet, find the most popular ones, Google their website, search for iPhone covers, pay with credit card. Ca-ching done.

4. Footwear/ Shoes

Again, enough with your excuses. I do understand that footwear is hard. But there are two options that pretty much make it impossible for you not to find something that’d work. Bring in, Toms and Hunter. Toms is known for making wonderful flats. And what’s fantastic about Toms is that they donate a pair of shoes to a child in need every time a pair in purchased. So really, pick a print and let’s move along to check out. The other option is Hunter. Hunter Wellies are the standard for cold climates. Perfect for the snow, rain and horse back riding in the UK.

5. Jewelry

And last but not least, the crown jewel of all holiday gifts – jewelry. From plastic bangles to well crafted watches, there is nary a woman who will be upset to receive sparkles. Obviously, follow the basic rules and pay attention in the next few weeks to ensure you know what you’re getting yourself into. If she doesn’t wear earrings, don’t buy earrings. If she doesn’t wear gold, don’t buy gold. And please, please, don’t buy imitation pieces. No one wants a knock off , so if you can’t afford it, don’t fake it.
