One of the most intriguing and bizarre phenomenons in the history of music and music videos has to be R. Kelly’s epic saga, Trapped in the Closet. In 2005, the track  itself topped out at #22 on the Hot 100 and #5 on the R&B / Hip-Hop US Billboard charts. The music video series (written and produced by Kelly) tells a story of a one-night stand that sets off a chain of events, gradually revealing a greater web of lies, sex, and deceit.

Since then, it’s been parodied by Jimmy Kimmel, MADtv, and SNL in addition to being the subject of multiple discussion panels and one of the most memorable episodes of South Park. The series has gained cult status, having solidfying its place in music folklore for a long time to come.

R. Kelly produced 22 chapters of the tale, with the last chapter fading out to black and the message, ‘To Be Continued’. The epic saga does continue on IFC Friday, November 23rd at 9pm ET with Chapter 23. Since we’re super tight with IFC, we got our hands on some advance clips from the show.
