The world received some seriously sad news recently when it was announced that Hostess – the wholesale baker and distributor of bakery products in the US – has closed shop. Many a sugar-laced tear were shed as an iconic American institution that gave us the beloved cream-filled yellow cake treat, the Twinkie, will blow away like dust in the wind – unlike the Twinkie, which remains edible eons after it’s packaged.

Sure, we’ll miss Wonder Bread, but there’s simply no substitute for the Twinkie. What will future generations think when they see Ricky Bobboy’s car racing in Talladega Nights? How will our children’s children react during the infamous Twinkie scenes in Ghostbusters and Zombieland? It’s like deliciousness is on the endangered list.

The Twinkie is now a scarce resource and, as a result, the prices for one are SKYROCKETING. But, why pay out the butthole for one when you can try your hand at sorcery and make it yourself? Hey, if you can recreate the Big Mac, you can take a stab at the Twinkster. To think, we’ll have generations believing that a Twinkie isn’t an edible treat unless you’re a Bear.
