As a guy, I’ve always found women’s fashion funny. Some stylist or designer or influencer says, ‘X is hot this season’ and hoardes of women storm stores and sample sales to snatch up X (the product, not the drug). On my commute home from work yesterday, I did some serious people watching with an eye specifically trained on what the women rocked. It was like looking at copy after copy — only with different colors and patterns. I know that sounds ridiculous considering all guys wear the same thing, but it’s different with women. Let me explain …

Take this video you see above that covers the red carpet pics from GQ’s Men of the Year party this past week. Rihanna in a red dress, Jenna Dewan in a red dress, Jennie Garth in a red dress, Julianne Hough and Ali Larter in white dresses, Alessandra Ambrosio and Diane Kruger in cut-out dresses that were red and white. It’s like GQ sent out a mandate to only dress in red and white.

That said, hot damn. I’ve always been a fan of the low cut tops and short skirts, but this new cut-out look makes me laugh. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great, but it’s causing such a stir. The Dallas Mavericks cheerleaders are wearing new cut-out uniforms and people are up in arms about how scandalous it is, yet A-list celebs are also wearing it on the red carpet. I swear these cut-out pieces were first worn by porn stars and prostitutes — two types of professionals society looks down upon, yet they started a trend that no one wants to credit them with. I have a headache.
